The new 2015 Coolpix P610 holds on to the P600’s 16-megapixel 1/2.3-inch backside-illuminated CMOS sensor and 60x, f3.3-6.5, 24-1440mm lens from before. It also comes with the same 921K-dot-resolution 3-inch Vari-angle display and 0.5-cm (0.2-inch) electronic viewfinder from the P600.
Newly added to the Nikon P610 is NFC, this makes it much easier for Android users to wirelessly connect to the camera’s built-in Wi-Fi. You can now take a look at and transfer photos and video movies to your smartphone or tablet plus use the app to remotely control the P610 camera. GPS is enabled for geotagging pics and finding interest points you might want pictures of when on the go.
Shooting modes are also the same as the P600’s, but you’ll get a new time-lapse movie mode and regular movies can be shot at 1080p at 60 frames per second. It does lack a raw capture mode that may disappoint users of Adobe Lightroom.
The P610 supports full-scale photography with a 60x optical zoom. A NIKKOR lens covers the wide-angle 24 mm to super-telephoto 1440 mm angles of view, Dual Detect Optical VR, which brings the best compensation for camera shake. New is an increase in shutter speed—available from a Nikon compact digital camera, and has a shooting time lag of approximately 0.12 seconds.
The P610 is also one of the smallest cameras in the 60x or higher optical zoom class. It brings greater basic performance and more advanced functions than before with a high-performance NIKKOR lens. This utilizes a super ED lens element inside for superior chromatic aberration compensation control. The Nikon Coolpix P610 is also the first COOLPIX camera to be equipped with an electronic viewfinder with a built-in eye sensor that turns of the LCD screen when you put your face to the viewfinder to shoot.
The Nikon Coolpix P610 has an expected release date in early March 2015. And can be found here as soon as available.
