Dirty camera and lens contacts can cause all sorts of issues with your DSLR or mirrorless camera. There can be a few causes for you camera not getting good contact with your lenses. Here are a few solutions for fixing your problems.
Dirty contact points can cause auto-focus problems, camera errors, lenses freezing up and leave you with poor images.
Using a high quality contact cleaner spray like DeoxIT is an easy fix for most issues. It was designed for use as a general treatment for connectors, contacts, and other metal surfaces. More than just any contact cleaner, DeoxIT chemically improves electrical connections to ensure clean and clear electronic transitions between camera and lens.
You can also use 99% Isopropyl Alcohol and a lens cleaning cloth to get the job done. It just won’t have the lasting protection of a product like DeoxIT.
Please don’t use lint covered items like paper towels and cotton swabs for contact cleaning. Also stay away from using pencial erasers and they tend to flake apart and leave partial inside your camera. This debris will eventually find it’s way to your camera’s image sensor causing pots on your photos.
